    New to caravan holidaying

Hi David, Welcome to the forum. As Billy Connolly says there's no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing! I guess the same goes for caravans. If you can stay warm and dry you can have a good time just about anywhere. Best wishes Phil PS Managed to quote Billy Connolly...

    touch up paint.

Hi Peter, Welcome to the forum. That's an interesting question. Have you contacted Swift Group to ask them? Just did a quick search for "caravan touch up paint" on Ebay and there's a firm called Panelworks that does touch up pain for caravans but they don't list Sterling. Might be worth...

Hi Ed, Welcome to the club! Tudor Caravan Park looks very hand for Slimbridge. Where is the water pump on a Bailey Olympus? It would be interesting to hear any suggestions for winterising the water supply on tourers. I lived in a large twin axle while doing up a cottage on the Isle of...

    Gas valve problem

I have read elsewhere that the problem is an oily residue. There are some oily contaminants in all LPGs. In the past the bottled gas firms would clean these out of the bottles by burning it off each time before the bottle was refilled now they only do it every 15 years so the bottles get a build...

B + E do I need this on my licence to tow my Caravan?

The Camping and Caravanning Club have a page that should answer your question here: Towing - Are you legal? In your example I think it depends on the MAM (maximum admissible weight) of the tow car. If the MAM of tow car + MAM of caravan exceeds 3.5 tonnes then you need B+E.

    P&O North Sea Ferries

I wrote to a few ferry companies today asking if they can keep us informed of any special deals for caravans. P&O North Sea replied to say that they have an ongoing offer whereby caravans travel free at weekends. You just pay for the towcar, passengers and cabin. I've used the Hull Zeebrugge...

The 5 berth is a few hundred more than the 2 berth so could be an even better deal if it is in good condition. Trouble is it is hard for a beginner to know what good condition looks like. There's a guide to buying used by Andrew Jenkinson that might help you avoid some of the possible...

    Yearly service

Have you Googled "mobile caravan service"? Make sure that you will not invalidate your warranty. I'm not sure if caravans fit into the same rules as cars where you no longer have to use the main dealer even during the warranty period provided the servicing and parts are up to the same standard...

    CASSOA

If you are going to store your caravan away from home you need to feel that the site you are leaving it on is as secure as it can be. It is hard for a caravanner to judge what is a good secure storage site and what is less good. Cassoa inspect sites and grade them, bronze, silver and gold. This...
