Hi as a new caravanner can anyone tell me how good the jockey wheel type of motor mover is against having one fitted to the van wheel.
Many thanks John

Hi John,

The jockey type only drive the jockey wheel so you only have a small surface driving the caravan and the downward weight is limited. I guess that they are OK on absolutely flat solid surfaces like concrete and Tarmac. The van wheel type drive a van wheel and so give you much better grip on grass.

Whatever type you get have a practice with it away from any solid obstacles. I heard of one chap who bought one because he was having difficulty parking his van at home as he was getting older and his wife wasn't able to help him direct and control the van by hand. He was worried that he would lose control and damage the van. The first time he used the mover was to park up next to his house and he scraped right down the side because he wasn't used to the controls.

Good luck

Phil
